We value relevant certification as a benchmark for Colorpak’s environmental achievements.
Independent certification is an open and public measure of Colorpak’s environmental credentials and helps to provide clear environmental goals.
Colorpak is a member of the Waterless Printing Association and has been a signatory of the National Packaging Covenant since 2002. Currently Colorpak is undergoing evaluation for FSC certification and for ISO14001 certification, scheduled for completion in August 2008 and November 2008 respectively.
How are these certifications better for the environment?
They help by providing clear guidelines for minimising wastage and environmental impact and being part of an external regulating group encourages the exchange of ideas on how best to improve sustainability. An indication of how they can help Colorpak is as follows.
- Waterless Printing Association membership – provides technical support and information on how to get the most out of waterless printing, ensuring it is a viable and appealing alternative to conventional printing
- National Packaging Covenant – assists in establishing a structured action plan with measurable targets and goals. Colorpak’s environmental action plan is customised to focus on design, production and recycling
- ISO 14001 – is an independent Environmental Management Standard (EMS) which helps Colorpak implement an organised approach to minimising environmental impact
- FSC Chain of Custody (COC) certification – requires Colorpak to label products that are made out of FSC certified material, providing traceability back to an FSC certified forests and/or recycled material
