Foilstamping
Foilstamping is a similar process to letterpress printing using heat and foil rather than inks.
Stamping foil is made up of several layers, such as polyester, release coat, metallised aluminium or pigment and sizing. Heat is applied to the polyester side of the foil and stamped onto the stock using a magnesium, copper or brass die. The sizing is softened as a result of the heat. Pressure is then applied applied causing the metalised or pigmented layer to release & adhere to the stock.
